“What I model as an educator echoes my values of honesty and integrity demonstrated within core learning.I am mindful that challenge places students in a position to exceed their own personal expectations reinforcing the importance of engagement within a learning community.”

-Michelle N. Gibson

Michelle’s teaching experience spans a wide range of ages, institutional settings and instructional models. As a long time faculty member of The American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina, she has taught youth and young adults striving to perfect their dancing. She’s been an inspiration to so many young dancers through this work and the many workshops she’s conducted in places like South Dallas Cultural Center in Dallas Texas and Ashe Cultural Arts Center in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Ms. Gibson is a highly sought after visiting artist and has conducted master classes and workshops throughout the United States, the Caribbean and Europe. Her “The Buckshop Workshop” is a particularly popular workshop and allows Michelle to introduce the cultural vibrancy of New Orleans, her birthplace and major inspiration for what she’s dubbed her “Second Line Aesthetic”. She’s equally inspired by elders in the community and always finds time to devote to promote healthy movement instruction at senior centers. Her specialized curriculum for this special brand of movement therapy is widely used by numerous venues.

Michelle N. Gibson is available for both short-term and long-term residencies as well as master classes and workshops.
